Italian player Marco Verratti, the star midfielder of Paris Saint-Germain, is about to move to the Qatari League in an unprecedented deal.

Press reports stated that Al-Arabi Qatar Club completed its contract with midfielder Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer period for the 2023-2024 season.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in sports transfer news in Europe, reported that the Qatari club Al-Arabi had reached a verbal agreement with the player Marco Verratti in order to sign him. In a tweet on the social networking site “X” (formerly known as Twitter), the “Sky Sports” journalist indicated that Verratti is expected to leave for Doha within the next 24 hours to complete the signing procedures.

Romano indicated that Paris Saint-Germain agreed to charge a fee for the deal amounting to 45 million euros.

Things are moving towards Marco Verratti becoming the most expensive player in the history of the Qatari League through this deal, surpassing the previous number held by Japanese player Shoya Nakajima. Nakajima had joined Al-Duhail for 35 million euros in the 2018-2019 season, coming from Portimonense of Portugal.

Earlier, there was speculation linking Verratti, 30, with a move to Al Hilal during the current period of the summer transfer window, but he eventually decided to join the Qatar Stars League.

On the other hand, Brazilian Philippe Coutinho became a player for the Qatari club Al-Duhail, after the club confirmed that it had reached an agreement to loan the player for a season from Aston Villa.

Al-Duhail stated on its official website, today, Friday, that Coutinho signed his transfer contracts in the presence of Khalifa Khamis, vice president of the club.

Brazilian Philippe Coutinho has officially joined the ranks of the Qatari Al-Duhail Club after completing all the official procedures and successfully passing the medical examination following his arrival in Doha in the past few days.

Coutinho, who started his professional career at the Brazilian club Vasco da Gama, later moved to the Italian Inter Milan, then had a successful loan experience with the Spanish club Espanyol, before joining the English club Liverpool, where he showed outstanding levels. In January 2018, Coutinho joined Barcelona, Spain, and from there he moved on loan to Bayern Munich, where he contributed to the team winning the Champions League in 2020.

Al-Duhail occupies third place with 7 points in the Qatari League standings after 3 rounds.
